I understand, I feel the same way about snakes. Not fond of spiders, but not as strong feelings as yours. Only 2 types of spiders in U.S. harmful to humans. But for your peace of mind at home, have an exterinator come, talk to him about most effective way to keep spiders out of the house. I live in Mexico now...so have some whoppers here at times. Prob. you need to have monthly spraying to keep them away. Good luck.

This isn't a stupid thing to ask.
There are a lot of people that are terrified of spiders.
As other posters have stated, there are only two that you really have to concern yourself with here in the states. The Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. Both are nasty little devils and you can read up on them off the internet,
I would say you have to deal with prevention and the best way I guess is going to be an exterminator. It might seem like a huge expense to do it, but believe me, a bite from a Brown Recluse makes that amount seem small in comparison. Black Widows aren't my fave either LOL.

Go to your local grocery store and ask someone if they have something called a "spider ball". It looks like and is about the same size of an orange, but it's green. Buy a dozen of them and put one in the corner of each room of your house. Problem solved.
P.S. No, they aren't edible, so don't be looking up any "spider ball" casserole or "spider ball" pie recipes.

Well there are only 2 spiders in the USA that are poisonous to humans, the black widow and the brown recluse aka fiddleback.
The others bite may cause some irritation but are basically harmless and usually they have a lot more to fear from you than you do from them.

I agree with the second person: brown recluse and black widows are the worst. I'd say brown recluse are even worse. Google them so you know what they look like. Daddy Longlegs are harmless, but I don't like them in my room either.
I'd say get a vacuum (the kind with the tube) and vacuum up small spiders (if you want, get them with bug spray first, but that might make them run).
I'm totally with you on this hating spiders thing.

All spiders are poisonous to some extent. To keep them out of your house, spray white vinegar along the baseboards and directly on any spiders you see. They are very useful in nature. They eat mosquitoes and other bothersome insects.

Pretty much all spiders are more scared of you then you are of them. Just try and keep your house as clean as possible so that ants and flies won't have any food and then there won't be ants or flies to attract spiders.
