Lepidopterist

This is named after the Order of Insects known as the Lepidoptera, which includes the butterflies and moths.

[orinthologist - see above - is a mis-spelling of ornithologist, which is someone who studies birds, not insects. The study of insects in general is performed by an entomologist]

You mean one who teaches butterflies? LOL, couldn't resist.

I don't think there's a term for someone who specializes in butterflies, per se, but an orinthologist is someone who studies insects, which is what butterflies are.

ADDED: Oops, my bad - I got my ologists wrong. It is an entomologist - I apologize for the mistake. It's been a long week ;) It's interesting to see that there *is* a term for a butterfly specialist. Learn sumfin' new every day!
