Ok I was going to buy "Requiem for a dream" but i noticed that there are a few different versions. These are the ones I have found..."Requiem for a Dream", "Requiem for a Dream : Directors Cut" and "Requiem for a Dream : Edited Version". I know that the first is the untouched original movie, and I know what a director cut version is.....but wtf is an edited version...the only thing I can think of is maybe it is edited to be less harsh or edit some of the more intense scenes???

Well there is a few differences witch are very noticeable ...

The edited version replaces the shot of Marion and another woman having sex with two men with a shot of Marion partially clothed climbing on top of a man.

Also, all the shots of the double-ended dildo and the shots of Marion and the woman having sex on it have been replaced with alternate camera angles and shots that hide any indication that the two are having anal sex on it. Some shots were also re-used to hide the close-ups of the two butts slamming together.

So You can see its a much stronger version if you chose the unedited one.

That movie does have some harsh and intense scenes, so probably edited to not be as much so. Too bad they couldn't include the original with the director's cut like they do with some DVDs, but I'd stick with the original!

Always get the Director's cut, or at worst the unedited version.

edited is probably less scenes and maybe puts it down from an R rating to a pg-13....p.s I dont know what the rating of that movie is, but thats how it usually works....
