It's for this reason I care for and love my dogs; if anyone comes they are not friendly with strangers, Picasso & Georgia bark like mad. Granted if you're with myself or my wife, then you're okay. If you run in and Georgia (my 60 lb. Lab-mutt) gets and she rips something OFF you there will be little sympathy from me or my family. Picasso being a 25 lb Terrier mix might tear off a toe but he's still gonna bite ya.

People who have seen me answering questions here know that I am about as honest as anyone can be in this day & age on-line. I want to be a good human, but my father told me when I got married, "That's your wife, your new family. We did all we could to protect you. Now it's your job to do that for her."

I may harm someone and I don't know all the legalities of that kind of situation but if the choice is my family versus an intruder... family comes first. I'll use that cliche now: "I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6... " I know how to use a gun, but don't keep one. I know how to care for myself but I don't seek violence. I am not afraid to get into a fight but I don't go running into one unless I can protect someone. And that is my only thought: "Am I protecting my wife and home... even my pets? Did I do what was right?"

If you want money, ask. If I have it take it. Money can be re-earned; a home rebuilt, posessions replaced. But Anna is one of a kind, and so are Picasso & Georgia. I would hold verty little thought to keeping them safe in any situation. Personally, and honestly, I hope we never have to use violence but know once you do something it can't be undone. All you can do is live with that action.

God Bless you.

You didn't say if the invasion was armed or not. If it was armed, the laws in most states do allow you to defend yourself. Some allow deadly force even if the intruder doesn't have a gun.

For me, I would rather say I'm sorry to the invader's kids, if any, than stand at the grave of one of mine.

In most states, if you are in legitimate fear for your life and have no avenue of escape (home invasion or whatever) you have the right to use lethal force to protect yourself. In the State of Washington you can use lethal force to stop a person in the act of a felony, where ever you happen to be .... That's pretty broad.

If they are armed DON'T aim for the legs... and remember the first rule of gunfighting..."have a gun".

if you and family are in danger, and the perp gets iced inside your place. That would not bother me.
How ever, you will still take a ride with the man to the klanker.

You have to beleive that the system will still try you for snuffing out the said intruder.
Seems his rights will get more attention than your rights

if i was being burglarized or felt my life was threatened-- then out comes the 12 guage-- but i would shoot the fool in the leg so he couldnt run off-- i wouldnt deliberty shoot the invader to cause death-- just fill his azz or legs with some bird shot.call the police and tell them you have a criminal in your house and are keeping him or her in check with a gun-- they should be there in a flash.dont take chances- keep out of reach so intruder cannot grab your firearm- then tell him if he or she moves-- that another round will be headed their way-- looking down the barrel of a shotgun is not a good idea-- tell them next time your gun may be packing double ott or a slug. i believe so long as your in control with a loaded firearm-- this lowlife aint gonna move or try anything stupid

yes i would, but remember you'll have to catch them breaking into your home or otherwise if you go out and find the person or persons and take the law into your own hands you'll will be charged for manslaughter, or murder in the first degree.

But if so person is breaking into your home and then you have the right to defend your home according to the laws of your state

During the act of Home Invasion, yes. If you mean catching him later, no. Initially you are protecting yourself, and possibly others. Afterward, the court will probably look at it as premeditated murder.

I would feel justified but i wouldn't do it. and the reason is this country is soooo messed up these days. i would probably go to prison or get sued for shooting someone that broke into my house with malicious intent to harm myself or my family. thank you very much "mothers of america"
