probably a (light) sanding and some kind of finish stain type deal. Rent a sander or have someone do it for you, its gonna make kind of a mess doing it but at least you wont have to vacuum the rugs anymore.

You can rent a floor sander from home depot (get the small sander for corners & edges, too, if you don't have one). and buy yourself some really good masks. You also need plastic to cordon off the area you are working on because sawdust will be everywhere (as added protection seal off your computer and TV individually) and lots of masking tape. Open the windows and remove the screens (sawdust clogs the holes). Once you have it completely sanded go over it several times;sweep, drymop (there are products to make this more effective-you want every little particle up). Stain the wood as directed and coat with a sealer 3-4 times. Nasty job...good luck!

if you have a lot of furniture and pc's in your home, move it out or forget it. theres no getting away from the dust. period!
your best bet is to purchase a 4 x 24" belt sander and refinish just whats necessary and what will not be covered up by furniture.
Don't fix-it unless its broken.
a quick fix could carry you through the Holidays and then atact it again when time is in abundance.

Renting a sander doing it yourself is far cheaper than hiring someone else to do it. Then refinish with a stain and sealer and viola it's just that easy. Please send 5 air bucks to 123 Air Buck Drive Air City, America sent via Air Mail.

I sanded my hardwood floors in my living room and it turned out very nice. If you rent a good quality sander it will be an easy job. This site helped me a lot with tips and ideas.
