In the book What To Expect The First Year

The chapters of it go from

"Newborn"
"The First Month"
"The Second Month"
"The Third Month"
and so on......

It doesn't say "Your 1 month old." Just "The first month. So If my baby is 3 months old, should I be reading "The fourth month" since her first month was actually before she was officially one month old?

Thats a great book isnt it? It was like my bible when I had my first baby...I took it as the first month was the time between just born to 4 weeks old, the second month being 4 weeks to 8 weeks, and so on....I think maybe they consider the newborn chapter as time spent in the hospital and getting settled into a routine after coming home...

I think you should be reading the third month since she is 3 months old. The newborn section covers before she is a month old. But it never hurts to read ahead!

You answered your own question. The 4th month chapter will talk about things you might experience once your baby has reached 3 months old. It will discuss weeks 13-16. At the end of the chapter, your baby will be 4 months old and ready for the 5th month. Best of luck!

no the newborn section is for the period before your baby turns 1 month and so on and so forth. If your baby is 3 months old, read the 3 month old section! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BABY!!!

I think the newborn chaper is a generic overview of newborns then it goes month by month so say your baby is 3 months you would start off there but could read to 4th month to see what to expect next month.
