I need to find a cell phone for my elderly mother. This would be only for emergencies and the phone should be as simple as possible. The Jitterbug phone is nice, but it is expensive and she would only use it if she were broke down somewhere or for some other emergency. I have tried to get her cell phones before and she gets confused if there are too many buttons. Any suggestions on a cheap and easy phone out there?

This is pretty generic advice - query on kid friendly cell phones and pick one of those from the list. Something that lets her only call a few numbers. Program those numbers for her.

I've always found the Nokia phones to be easy to use. Simple menu system and easy to dial and hang up. Perhaps a flip phone would be easy to use for her as once she is done with a call she can just close the flip to hang up the call. Another benefit of having flip phone is that she won't accidently dial numbers if she had the phone in her purse. My mom does that all the time as she does not lock the bar style phone she has.

reliable for you! i attempt to attempt this besides. inspite of the actuality that if my telephone is on a ringer (vs. vibrate) I continually seem on the phone an ninety 8 circumstances out of 100 will silence the ringer and resume my interaction with the guy i'm with (that's on silent on the films!). the different 2 circumstances even as i favor to take the decision, that's because it really is something which could't wait, and that i excuse myself from the different human being's presence to take the decision.

Get her a Firefly from Cingular they are originally for kids but it would be great for your mother they have big buttons and you can program the number where all she has to do is press one button to call!
