a doctor would have to take you, especially if you showed up in their emergency room in labor. the problem would be if you turned out to be a high-risk patient, which would make it more difficult for the new doctor to care for you properly (if he didn't have the whole story).
that being said, people move all the time and have to change doctors. however, think about putting off getting pregnant so that your move won't coincide with your third trimester. moving is very stressful and you wouldn't want to put yourself into early labor!
good luck to you!

Depends on where in NC you are moving to. I had my second baby in NC. We lived in the mountains and my doctor was some backwoods doctor and not a OB doctor. Believe me it was not a good experience. I had a retained placenta and it was a mess. He didn't get it all out so my husband had to rush me back to the hospital a week later where I stayed over night. I found out later that I could have bled to death! Thank God my husband had just walked the door from work. Let me put it this way, I would not do it again. When I had my first baby we lived in FL, everybody and his brother was in the dellivery room, ready and waiting for anything. In NC, it was me and my husband, the doctor, and a nurse! No one was ready and waiting.
I would do some research on doctors in the area you are wanting to move to and ask them this same question.

I'm not certain, but I would look into it now. My husband and I are in about the same position (except it'll be next December). If you already know the vicinity you're moving in NC, check out area hospitals to see where you'd like to go and talk to them now about their policies. Best of luck to you!

Call ahead now and make an appointment better safe than sorry, That way your insurence company will be able to get set up for a new doctor then you will just have to bring your records. Good Luck!!
