Refurbished means that it was sold inoperable or broken to the store, and they've replaced whatever to make it work and are now selling it.
Generally it's safe, but I believe you can ask the store what was wrong with it if you need to know before you buy.

Refurbished computers are normally computers that were not bought together but rather the internal parts put together from mulitple parts....this can be a bad thing to do in some cases because you could get the mother board of a computer that didn't get whiped clean and it could either have information on it from the previous owner that you shouldn't see OR it might have something on it that could damage the rest of the computer. If you are buying it from a person you can trust then I would say just ask some general questions about it and go with it...especially if it's a money versus need issue.

Hello 1st Uget D Moni,
Refurbs are a good option if you want to buy the newest technology at a cheap rate. Refurbished computers are the returned computers from unsatisfied customers or from a warranty problem.
The computers are given a thorough going over by the manufacturer and (at least in the case of the Macintosh) keep their warranty as if they were a new computer. There is a mail order house up here in Oregon (PowerMax) that sells Refurb Macs at a considerable savings.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready.
Microsoft is about to release its latest operating system, Vista, in January. It’s going to make all of these “bargain” computers nothing but JUNK as soon as it’s released. The reason that you are seeing so many cheap systems on the market right now is because a lot of them CAN’T RUN Vista and the merchants are trying to dump them as hard and fast as they can before Vista shows up and everyone learns what a piece of crap they were sold for $500 (or whatever).
Anyway, I bought a complete, new system from stupidcheapcomputers.net with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.
I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.
Good luck!

Probably something used that's been rebuilt to whatever degree necessary or something that sat on the shelf but never sold and brought up to snuff within it's grade wherever necessary. There's a risk in buying new, I think. I bought a brand spanking new Palm Tungsten out of the box and within three weeks the thing crashed without an overload of whatever of any kind. So called tech support was abysmal. Hope this helps.

Refurbished can be as good as the others. Just don't buy one that is "as is/no returns" just in case something is wrong.

not that risky, if from a reputanble supplier...
They can either be systems that have been returned with a fault and that part has been replaced /reparied
Or occasionally they can just be returns..
Although assume the first...
PC's are now cheap enough to not need to buy a refurb, unless it is extremly low price in which case the risk is minimal anyway!!!
Hope it helps...

Refurbished machines are respectable, not a undesirable selection for everyone on a funds or in basic terms not wishing to spend the outragious sums the "new" systems command those days. If extra individuals offered refurbished, new expenses could bypass down. besides, i purchase a great variety of refurbished products. on occasion "refurbished" can recommend variety new. If a equipment is decrease back, despite if it grew to become into on no account removed from the field, it extremely is seen "used" and could desire to be offered as refurbished. I even have offered systems which the plastic wrapping and suitable seals the place on no account broken. one among my superb "refurbished" deals grew to become into 2 great Bose leisure systems. mutually as one were opened, it grew to become into in variety new condition, however the different had on no account been out of its field. i offered the two units for what i could have had to pay for one new unit. those units carry us plenty exhilaration on a on a daily basis foundation. mutually because it extremely is actual the unique waranty is under on a clean equipment, purchase the prolonged guarantee. prolonged warranties are extremely actual worth the money paid for them. I even have decrease back machines nicely previous the unique guarantee date, on into the prolonged guarantee, and with in basic terms a sprint fuss have had it exchanged. the factor is this: as quickly as previous the unique guarantee, the equipment is probably not replacable with an analogous variety. whilst changing a equipment you in many circumstances land up with an upgraded device. yet, you're able to desire to do exactly a sprint haggling, and don't be frightened of doing that using fact or you're able to get taken for a journey. Do *not* comply with any "restocking" costs whilst taking it decrease back to a save you stroll into. besides the undeniable fact that, in case you purchase online, you're able to could desire to pay that fee, and it particularly is as much as fifteen% of the acquisition cost, regardless of despite if it grew to become into opened. the substantial's while you're carefull and decide properly you may get awsome deals with "refurbished" products. the main substantial products to avert with refurbish is televisions and different fragile products. I in basic terms motivate the acquisition of an prolonged waranty. stable success and much fulfillment including your purchase, please have a great day.
