I'm in NJ and the child is 3. I think he's a little too young to remember Disney, but open to any suggestions.

Yeah, a little help with details, please.

[ADDED] OK, thanks for the detail. You're in Jersey. Why not go to Philadelphia and show your child the Franklin Institute Science Museum (http://www2.fi.edu/) - has some interactive exhibits and big visuals that are great for a 3-year-old. Then, go to Independence Hall and show your child the cracked Liberty Bell. There's also Penn's Landing (http://www.pennslandingcorp.com/) nearby, with events and festivals year-round, and lots of themed restaurants.

When you tire of the city, get out to Lancaster County and Amish country. Buy a hot pretzel or pastry for your youngster, hit some craft shows, and show him the horse-and-buggy culture.

Have fun!

You live in New Jersey? Not too far from me! There is always the Ocean City Boardwalk. There are a ton of rides, games, food, and stores plus the beach!! Since NJ is close to NY, why go into the city for a day. Or you can drive up to Massachusetts and visit Boston. Fanniel Hall is cool and so is the Science Museum. The marriott there is very nice. Washington DC is also only a 3-4 hour drive from NJ so you can go there. That is always awesome!! HAve fun!!

Depending on the age of your child and where you live, you might go to a zoo, museum, an IMAX presentation, an aquarium. Or we love to camp and hike in State Parks. Our 6 year old son has turned my husband and I into quite the hiking/fishing/snowboarding outdoor family. We are also hoping to go see NYC in spring. He is learning about historical monuments in school and wants to see the Statue of Liberty. At that age, doing almost anything can be fun.
