Besides pregnancy..I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. My period is almost 2 weeks late. I was just wondering, if diet could be a part of it? stress? or what else causes late menstruation...thanks for the help!

I took a test im almost a month late. So it could be stress, diet change, horomonial imbalance, weather, could be many things, could even be astrology so don't stress just take a nice aroma therapy bath and lay in a dark room with a candle (scented) lit or incense to calm your self...

As previously stated there can be numerous reasons for absent or late periods. A sudden fluctuation in weight, excessive exercise, stress, depression, vaginal infection (bacterial vaginosis can be a major contributor to menstrual changes), diet, hormonal changes, medication... the list is endless!

It's all a process of elimination really. Do another pregnancy test, visit your Dr for a swab test to rule out infection, eat a balanced diet, take moderate exercise, make sure you are sleeping properly etc etc.

If you are really worried about it then consulting your GP is the best plan of action.

What a skipped period may be caused by;

Any woman = stress, rapid weight loss or gain, illness, drugs (certain tranquilizers) may have disrupted cycle

Sexually active women = usually due to pregnancy

Using the Pill Pill = brand is too low in estrogen
former Pill user body hasn't yet adjusted to life off the pill; see doctor if periods don't resume in 3 months

Using Mini-Pill, Norplant, or Depo-Provera = common side effect of progestin-only methods of birth control — drug is probably suppressing ovulation as well as period, effect may be prolonged; most common among new users of Norplant and long-term users of Depo-Provera

it could be stress and yes it could be your diet. have you had any sudden changes in diet? Or are you on any new medicinges or supplements that may have caused this? If not I'd check with your local health department or GYN

it most definitely could be stress or any weird eating habits.
have you been exercising more often? sometimes that may trigger late periods.
