Use the site below, it has resources for finding lawyers. If you want a specific area just use the google search bar and type in (lawyer+city) it should give good results. Use the ads on the right and top after searching.

Your sister does not have the right to full custody of her child unless the father is a direct and obvious threat to the child's welfare. Simply accusing him of being a "beater" means nothing. His rights are just as strong as her rights, is the issue.
She can either accept that and work with the court to negotiate shared custody that everyone can live with. Or both she and he can spend an obscene amount of money and end up with a situation where the court forces this on you anyway.

A lot of area's have a women's foundation or some sort of organization that can help her with very cheap to possibly free legal advice. She should go to her county's social services dept to ask of any such help.

She should take photos of any bruises and/or injuries and press charges. Have her contact a battered women's shelter to find a resource for free legal advice.

Contact the local battered women's shelter, and I know that they could help your sister find out who to contact in your area and what steps she needs to take. All the best.
