There are a lot of places to see on your way down, I have driven from Mi. to Florida many times. If you like histroical sites there are dozens of them to stop at. Just pay attention to the brown road signs as your driving. But there is Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, (assuming you are taking I-75) it is a really nice place to go see. Just a stop along some of the road side parks through the mountains is breath taking. It should only take you a couple of days to make that trip so you would need to plan what times you will be arriving at some places you want to stop at so that they are not closed. Good luck and enjoy.

Start with being grateful that you are leaving Detroit!
Not much to see except for some great nature and some National Parks.

your best bet is to go to AAA and have them advise you. it really is inexpensive to join and that way you're covered if you run into problems along the way....flat tires, etc. also get discounts on most hotel rooms. they will provide best route for drive, including updates on construction and what roads to avoid. AAA is the best....I've been a member for years...well worth the money!! they may also still provide discount tickets for magic kingdom, etc which you can buy in advance....package deals and the like which may save you even more....help plan your trip even better yet.
