If you're sooo in love, it can wait until you're old enough...
Trust me. If he's pressuring you to get married - be aware that my abusive ex did that.

Were not there yet. The next group to demand marriage recognition will be the polygamist. And before I get flamed by someone, yes I know the gays have no connection with the polygamist and don't support them and it's a slippery slope argument to associate the two. Yep. Heard all that before but regardless in the next 5 to 10 years polygamist will be screaming for their rights and they will use gays as a precedent to support them. And that assumes, as I consider likely, that gays will win their rights fairly soon. The recent California ruling seems to support that possibility. Polygamist will have a long hard fight because they are a much smaller group. Though who knows, if the economy gets bad enough huge extended families might become more desirable especially in rural areas. When ever the polygamist win, if they do win, the incest crowd will follow them and that will be when marriage becomes essentially a joke. In fairness to the gays I expect they will fight further recognition themselves because most of them are far from stupid and they can see the writing on the wall. As far as the inanimate objects and farm animals stuff goes, that will never happen. Aside form a few Japanese guys who marry their video games (were not responsible for Japan). I doubt if mainstream culture will ever take some guy marrying his dog seriously and I am sure the institution of marriage will be long gone by the time anyone does. If the word still exist it will just be a quaint custom some people do in their church that has no legal standing at all. For the record though all your arguments are perfectly valid. If you take morality out of the equation than there is no real basis to oppose incest. The public health concern doesn't fly since, as you point out, procreation is not a requirement for marriage.

If it's illegal where you are, then what's the point in getting married? Just wait a few months until you're 18. If you're really meant to be together for the rest of your lives, a few more months won't matter.
If you're pregnant, don't worry, the kid won't be considered illegitimate once you turn 18 and get married.

have him get you a promise ring or something and wait til you are 18..... i am not sure if you realize how truly immature and just weird that this sounds..... its not gonna be legal no matter what, so why would you make someone stand in front of you and pretend to marry the two of you...

your crazy.... you got ur whole life ahead of you and you want to get married... ur only in high school! have some fun first before making a huge commitment.... i don't think you realize what you are getting yourself into... and if ur guy is 20 he should know better than to marry you when you are so young... if he really loved you he would wait until you are legal so no one is breaking any laws.

what is the point of getting married if it isn';t legal? Buy some rings and call it quits, or better yet your 17 grow up first and finish school!
