Why should we be feeding starving people in Africa when we can't even feed our own people here in the U.S.A.?

I've always said that we need to take care of our own first. The truth is that we could take care of them all, and make things so much better for everyone, if the people in charge of all of this - the politicians and corporate leaders - weren't so d@mn corrupt.

Conditions of life in the USA are far superior to any in Africa. At least most people in the USA can get help from someone.

In Africa there is no help what so ever and people are starving to death. There are no government pensions, no food vouchers, no low income housing, people are forced to live with no protection from the weather. They don't know who is going to attack them next.

For sure there are homeless and hungry people in the USA. the gap between rich and poor is growing at an alarming rate but you still have a chance to do something about it.

There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, it is merely not distributed. When you look at those kids in Appalachia, it just makes you ashamed that we could allow it. So much food is wasted and with new agricultural methods there is no excuse. You don't give anyone a hand out, you give them the means to provide for themselves, which makes the world a better place for everyone.

Because the people here (in the US) have greater educational/economic advantages and opportunities to "feed" themselves than the people in Africa... Because we (the US) want/need to be charitable to others outside our country. Because we don't want to increase immigration problems by allowing the rest of the people living in this world live like crap....
BTW - The amount of assistance given by the US to other countries is small in comparison to internal US social programs and not even worth mentioning in comparison to the overall US budget.

People in the USA have more than enough opportunity to feed themselves. The starving in Africa have no opportunities.

I totally disagree wit u. Ofocurse we can feed ourselves here. People in Africa doesnt have the esay access to like go to the corner store and get some chips and soda. And they dont have the access to buy chinese food, which is really cheap.

If you are starving in the US it is your own fault! You can go to soup kitchens, aid office, homeless shelters, food pantries, the salvation army, catholic charities, etc. The only people starving here are just to lazy to go get help.

I totally agree that we need to take care of our own, before others. Its not the fault of the United States that many other countries "suck" in any assistance towards their people. I am all for any organization helping out the needy, and I do the best I can to help many people. But I need to give to the ones in my own backyard first, before looking in another backyard.

We have more than enough food in this country. We waste more than enough to feed every hungary American several times over. The problem is with our distribution system.
