It's a Xmas pressie for hubby. He drives 5 hr journeys at a time. Has a cd changer in the car but I'm assuming he can use the ipod instead. His brother is getting him some sort of car adaptor type thingy to do this.

SO....what I'm asking is ...it comes with earphones, a USB connector and a dock adaptor. So what else should I be thinking of for him at home/or away? Like an AC power charger? There's a dock adaptor with it so will he need a dock? Should he have a case to keep it safe and unscatched in? Etc....any info from users who have bought accessories and why and what's so good about that accessory, would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.....Celine

Definately a case to protect it. Since it sounds like your husband will be using this in the car, keep that in mind when you look at the designs of the cases. Some are easier to open one-handed than others.

An AC power charge is nice to have, as is the in-car charger.

I wouldn't go spend a lot of money on other accessories just yet, because they can be expensive, and it might take your husband a while to figure out what he wants, and what he'll use.

Otherwise, a gift card to download music from iTunes would be a nice addition. I hope he enjoys it!

It's a thoughtful gift.

Consider how he can listen to the iPod in his car. He can't wear headphones without worrying about getting pulled over by the police.

Options:
1. If car radio has an auxillary input plug on dashboard, you just need a cable to connect the iPod to the radio. (<$10)
2. If car has a cassette deck, can get the cassette adapter with wire to connect them. ($10-15)
3. Wireless transmitter, such as iTrip, but that doesn't always work well. ($40-50)

Good luck!

An AC power adapter would be a good addition, but if he has a car adapter he might be fine (he can always charge the nano via the USB cable and a PC/Laptop)

I would recommend an FM transmitter so he can "broadcast" the music form the Nano to his car radio/speakers. (see here; http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=F92F7BFD&nplm=TD145LL%2FA)

A carrying case is also a smart buy to protect the device (and often pretty inexpensive).

Enjoy
