Jordan, Please be very, very careful with this. You really can't get a true MBA degree totally online. If you go to the websites for universities offering 100% online business degrees, you'll notice that they offer a "Master's Certificate." This is not an MBA and will not lead to professional certification.

"Real" Schools of Business offering true MBAs will have many courses online, but will also require a certain portion of the degree to be earned through face-2-face classes. Believe it or not, accreditation for business schools is very tough and demanding; thus the standards are rather high. There are a lot of "diploma mills" out there -- be careful.

Also, to answer another question you had... Yes, even though you're an MD you still have to take the GMAT. You may know about gastroenterology; but they need to find out if you know anything about "Flux Vertical Integration" and "Debenture Analysis."

The tests are not pass/fail. You will get a score rather like your MCATs. And yes, most of the prep materials you can buy commercially will serve you well. There is no valid statistical data indicating that special test-prep classes increase performance. Study the prep books on your own.

Hope this answer helps. Cheers, mate.

Contrary to popular belief, there are MBA degrees from excellent universities that can be earned online. In fact, Duke University, Thunderbird and Florida State University offer online MBAs. You will still need to attend conferences (usually 1-week or so) where you can meet your classmates and participate in case studies, seminars, company and country tours. Duke and Thunderbird offer global MBA programs where these meetings take place in several countries such as China, France, Brazil, etc. Florida State offers a 1 year MBA program in addition to the traditional 2-year program. Every university has its own admission requirements so you will need to contact the admissions department for further information. Good luck!
