I know that some states allow "two Heartsbeats to one room". but they don't consider a child a "child " until it is 1 year old. At least that is how it is in Maryland.

It depends on your apartment complex. We lived in a one-bedroom apartment until my daughter was 20 months old. That was me, my husband, and my daughter. They have a limit on number of people, not by relationship. So if it had just been me and my daughter we could have stayed there indefinitely. Some apartment compexes make exceptions for babies and some do not. So for example your complex could say only 2 people, period, so if it's you and your husband and baby as soon as the baby is born you have to move (in which case I'd do it before the baby is born), other places may say only 2 people unless the 3rd person is under six months, under a year, under three years, or whatever they want. You just have to check with the complex. If it's just you and your child, though, they probably won't ever make you move. Social services usually doesn't come checking on stuff like that unless they get a complaint.
Once we moved into a 2-bedroom we still kept our daughter in our room and used the second bedroom as an office. Once she was a little over 2 years, we started to feel like she needed her own room and that was when we made a room for her.

I When I had my first child I lived in a studio apartment so there was no bedroom, I have a girlfriend who made a walk in closet (she took off the door and put a curtain up) a bedroom because she lived in a one bedroom apartment and still does (baby is now 3) I have not heard of any laws that prhibit you from living ina one bedroom apartment I would think it would be more up to your landlord ususally no more than two ADULTS can share a one bedroom.

There is no law, in Canada, anyway. Actually Social Services here will subsidize a one bedroom apartment for someone with one child, and a 2 bedroom for someone with 2 children. Which is why we have a problem with so many teenaged moms "planning" their second pregnancy to get a bigger apartment! It really irks me to no end.

I don't think so, if there is I've never heard of it much less heard of someone being arrested and tried for it.
My son sleep walks really bad and plus I've always feared someone would kidnap him (too much tv) therefore he sleeps in my bedroom. He has his own bed and now with his 15 month old sister, I actually enjoy both of them sleeping in my bedroom. His sisters crib is in the middle and we are at both ends of the room, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The bedroom that would have been his is now a playroom/media room. I even have my Gazelle in there and work out in the mornings while watching the news.

I do not think that there are any laws about sharing a bedroom with a child. We were in a one bedroom condo until out oldest was 18 months old.

Most states base how many per room based on square footage of said room. Some apartment complexes like to make up their own rules regardless of the laws though...and you could have a fight on your hands. Check with your local Department of Housing to find out what your rights are for sure

I don't believe there is a law prohibiting that.
About the previous poster...
I live in Canada and I do not know of any teen moms "planning" a second baby to get a bigger apartment. But I do see a lot of people spreading generalizations about teen moms.

The only thing that would matter is if your apartment has a maximim # of occupants for the 1 bedroom.
Mostly these restrictions are placed because of fire regulations.
