If you're desperate. I mean in bizarre circumstances I suppose anything's game.
But I believe we all should avoid carnivores, especially if they are pets. So that is why traditionally humans do not eat cats (big or small), dogs, foxes and wolves, snakes, eagles, vultures etc.
I remember reading somewhere (before the age of the internet) that the proteins of carnivores are very much different from herbivores and therefore can be unsuitable for human consumption.
Scientists have also found similarities between pigmeat and carnivores which makes many religious people (read Jews and Muslims) justify the prohibition of pig meat.
Perhaps anybody out there care to correct this?

I guess the people who say you can't eat carnivores don't realise that in parts of the world (eg SE Asia), dogs are commonly eaten. It's a cultural thing. I dare say giraffes were eaten in Africa, porcupines in America...
It seems that land animals are safe to eat - I found an article on poisonous foods here;
http://www.askmen.com/sports/foodcourt_100/127_eating_well.html
which doesn't mention any land animals.
(BTW, I have heard you shouldn't eat the liver of a polar bear; it contains enough vitamin A to kill a human!)

I think something like the wild boar has a very unusual, unpleasant taste. Snake is okay to eat just make sure to remove the poison glands. I think something like the, oh you did say land animal, I was about to say like the puffer fish. Out here in south Louisiana if it doesn't eat you first then you eat it. Crocs, armidillo, racoon, squirrel, rabbit, nuetra rats, any and everythings goes here in Louisiana. It's certain things they do to remove the "wild" taste from it. Heavy salted, smoke, etc. stuff like that.

I supose It's a cultural question. People eat delfins, horses, lizars, alligatos, cats, dogs, rats, snails, sea urchin, lamps eyes and pigs. If you can't eat some of them. It's a cultural reason.

Any meat is eatable. Mammals, fish, fowl, amphibian, insect, worms, spiders, anything can be eaten. Many think you can not eat scavengers, such as vultures and hyenas but they all can be eaten.
