If it's for your laptop, then an antenna may not work. If it's for your home router, then you can get a speedbooster, an amplifier, or move the router.
1) If you get a speedbooster, then you'll connect it to your router and the signal is broadcasted at a higher frequency, meaning it can go farther.
2) If you get an amplifier you would put it about 2/3 the way between you and the router and it will take the signal it is getting and boost it to near-full power.
3) Moving the router can be the easiest, and definitely the cheapest, way to boost your signal. Wifi signals are broadcasted by routers like ripples in a pond. These signals are easily dispersed by walls, appliances, and other things in the way. Think of it like sound, it's easier to yell down a hall than through a wall.

you can buy a stronger aerial for the router, but the aerial on the router must be removeable, or u can buy access points.
that act as a go between that can increase the signal, that normally go next to a wall.

They make range extenders. I don't know what the price would be though. You could install a second router I guess.
