My brother works in the mental health field, so I asked him about this. Some men can get all emotional, about a vasectomy, and have issues. If you are the super alpha male egotistical type, that considers women inferior, then you might have issues with a vasectomy because such type tend to associate it with castration. They don’t feel “manly” if they can’t get a woman pregnant. They are just lamers. In other words %99.9 of men will never have a problem.

A vasectomy has no effect what so ever on your sexual performance. Nothing changes and everything still looks the same. They don't actually cut anything off your body, so a vasectomy is completely undetectable. All of the answers so far are accurate except one. True the vas tubes leading from your testicles are severed. But the other end of those tubes do not connect to your prostate. They connect to the seminal vesicles, behind your bladder. This is where your sperm and semen get mixed. Once you have a vasectomy, the sperm can't reach the vesicles, so your semen remains free of sperm. I had my vasectomy done when I was 21. That was 20 years ago. Yes, I still get erections. I would not have gotten it if there was any risk to my future sex life. Over ½ million vasectomies are performed each year in the USA. Do you think all those men would do so if they could not get erections? Men get a vasectomy so they can have lots of baby-free sex. Edit: No it does not feel like you are missing anything. They don’t cut anything off, so how could you feel like you are missing a limb? You can look at yourself in the shower, or even feel your sack. You can’t feel anything different. You still ejaculate the same as before (only the microscopic sperm are missing from your semen). It still looks the same. The only difference is you know you are not going to make babies. Trust me knowing that you are not making babies takes one hell of a load of your mind, and therefore improves your sex life. If a vasectomy was performed while you was in a coma for a week, you would wake and never know you had it. In that case you would not reap the full benefit of the vasectomy because you still fear making an unwanted baby even though you can’t. I think perhaps you are a bad candidate for a vasectomy. On a normal man, a vasectomy has no side effects at all. But if you have psychological fears, then you will imagine all kids of side effects that don’t exist. If you are psyched out into thinking your voice is going to change, or you will get ED, then it will happen. No not because you had a vasectomy. It will happen because deep down you believe that it will.

It's very interesting that you should ask this question!
My boyfriend does have some psychological "issue" after having a vasectomy. He is divorced and has three wonderful children. He knew that he did not want any more children with a new wife and thus had the procedure. It was a responsible, mature decision and logically he undertands that. Yet, he has had twinges of regret pertaining to the diminshed sense of verility - even if that doesn't make much sense.
I would seem to me that it somehow taps into a "primitive" urge to reproduce? I think some women have a similar experience after menopause.

If your self esteem is too low to handle the procedure, then don't do it. The only psychological effect of a vasectomy is to a man who experiences insecurity and/or low self esteem. They feel less of a man because they are no longer capable of producing children. What they fail to realize is failing to produce children was THEIR CHOICE but sperm is still produced. Therefore, they are still a man. Otherwise, there are no problems with a vasectomy. A man is capable of engaging in a very healthy sex life, worry free from impregnating a woman. This should be a great sense of relief for men who have this procedure.

Vasectomy,IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.
My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I never had any, nor have any guys I have known over the years. I think you must be sure that that is what you want and that you are fine with fathering no more children. Actually, it will heighten your sex drive because you will not have the worry of pregnancy always hanging over your head.
