Oh, the irony in that comment!
We are the gullible fools who buy the magazines, and watch the programmes that spawn them!
It's amusing to watch a talentless bimbo show her/his ignorance.
Certainly makes me feel better (but not richer).

I don't think they really are, just that it seems that way. These are areas that allow those to succeed at them to get a high level of fame while at the same time, intellegence is not a major factor in determining success. Also, while those that reach the pinnacle of these fields are highly paid, sucess is very rare, a lot of people struggle for years with just as much talent and get nowhere. Most really brilliant people don't want to take that chance, and instead go into fields where intellegence is very highly corrolated with success, such as Law, Medicine, or Academics. So while the hightest paid doctors don't make as much as Britney Spears, Doctors on average make more that singers. So models, singers and actors at the very top are extremely highly paid, but on average are probably no dumber, or smarter, that the people you pass on the street. It's just that the people you see on the street who are not very bright never get interviewed. Add to this the fact that people who do succeed in the fields you mentioned then get an entourage of helpers that insulate them from the problems of everyday life, and they lose the common sense that most of us have, and that can make them look less intellegent as well.

I think no one values intelligence anymore (at least I value it). All today's world is concerned about is beauty, the latest fashion trends and who is dating/marrying/divorcing who. These icons, we call celebrities has had a negative effect on the world today.

Take for instance, girls who idolize Jessica/Ashley Simpson, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, etc. If you ask someone who likes these celebrities, I guarantee you 100%, no one will say "I like them because they are very smart". Most fans (mainly girls) like them because they feel they have the greatest life; the money, the so called success and get to have whatever their heart desires. With this kind of attitude in their heads, most fans who overly obsess about them will begin to think that if they look beautiful and have the latest and coolest clothes they can make it big without finishing school or going to college. Just think about:

1) A high school athlete who gets a choice to play in the NBA or finish high school and go to college (I bet you he pick the NBA. Why you ask, because the money)

2) Girls who would rather be a supermodel than finish school.

Basically, it all comes down to our beliefs. People go and look into entertainment because it pays the most money. Imagine if everyone had this kind of mindsetting to only work in the entertainment industry.

True, some of these models, actors, and singers have a reputation for being stupid, like Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton, but not all are like this. For example, Ashley Judd is an ambassador and worldwide spokesperson for AIDS, and there are many more just like her.

They are paid to entertain you and to bring smiles to the faces of many people. I wouldn't call them stupid, they are talented and found ways to make lots of money off their talents. If it weren't for them there would be no reason for movies or music. And imagine life w/o that.

CEO's of large corporations make more than those people do and they are very smart usually. But It's all about making money. The more money you make for a company the more money you earn.

Sometimes being less smart is an asset. It makes everyone else around you feel even more smart than they actually are, just in comparison.
