I THINK THATS A GREAT IDEA, BECAUSE WHEN UR ENGAGED, YOUR GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT EACHOTHER, ENGAGMENT IS A TASTE OF WHAT THE MARRIED LIFE IS GOING TO BE LIKE, DURING THAT TIME YOU CAN DECIDE IF YOU ARE READY FOR THE MARRIED LIFE.

I think your sister needs to enjoy her engagment. It wouldn't hurt her to meet other married couples so she can understand what she has in store for her. Most young people who get engaged are just "in love" and think everything will be great. Well, it changes. She needs to spend a year with this person to make sure she will be able to stand the rest of her life with him. After all, 21 is the beginning of her life. She has so much in store for her to see and she might not want to be tied down to just one person in her 20's. This is very important for all who is engaged to do. This would also reduce the divorce rate in this country. Too many people getting married for all the wrong reasons. Once marriage comes, then there are bills, jobs, kids, all other forces playing a role that is very stressful. If they can't handle that, then they are doomed. Good luck.

I think a long engagement is fine. Sometimes its better to wait until the time is right, like when you finish school or become more stable in your job to get married. That doesnt mean getting engaged was too quick. I think its good to propose as soon as you are sure, no matter when you plan on getting married. That way you let the other person in your life know that you want to spend the rest of your life with them.

Married my childhood sweetheart of 16 years, and she cheated after 4 years marriage.
Married my 3rd after knowing her less than a month and it lasted 14 years.
All depends on the individuals.

I got married at 21 and it's been 8.5 years now. It's up to them. Although it concerns me at the 2 year engagment. It doesn't sound like it is going to go through.

I just gave everyone a good rating since everyone got a bad one.

Longer engagements are better- the couple has more time to get to know each other, and mature together. It also alleviates the financial strain.

good idea, you should wait when you are younger, getting married is serious and you should wait to let you and your significant other time to mature so that you know you still truely love each other, and its not just puppy love
