Upgrade to dsl and tell them what you want to do or upgrade to cable and get yourself a router. With a dial-up connection, a router is a waste of time. It'll work but if you upgrade to dsl, chances are it won't cost you any more (or much more) than dial-up and they'll give you all the equipment you need. Plus you'll have a much better connection with dsl over dial-up.

Get a router... You may also find it easier to get a wireless router with a wireless card for the second PC. If you know how to run the cat 5 wire to connect a regular router, than wireless would not be a necessity. On the other hand, if you go wireless, you can put your computer anywhere.

if you are using a dialup accoutn you do NOT want to split this between three rooms. You'll be lucky if you get out at all.
If you must stay with dialup - each computer will need a modem. Only one computer can be on at a time unless each computer can have it's own phone line. (by now you're paying more than you would if you had DSL, cable, or satellite)
If you go with a faster conenction then you'll probably want to setup your house with a wireless LAN connection.
I'd wait to ask about this until you are ready to upgrade your internet connection.
