Hi, i'm currently in the 3 year of my psychology degree and am seeking some male volunteers aged 18-25 to complete a few questionnaires for me for my final year project.
The purpose of my study is to investigate whether or not ones' relationship status and smoking status is associated with self esteem and body esteem.
If you are interested (it will only take 5-10 minutes to fill in the questionnaires) then please contact me on psych_500@yahoo.com. Thank you!

It seems people are having problems with my email address. Try hayley_404@fsmail.net. That should work!

For those you have been requesting feedback just to let you know my study is partially based on a previous study that found that women who had boyfriends were more likely to report higher body esteem and self esteem than women without. Women with boyfriends were also less likely to report body disatifaction than women without. The second part of my study is also based on a previous study which found that people who smoked reported lower self esteem than people who did not. Due to the nature of that study however not much could be implied as further investigation was said to be needed as there was a few problems with the study. i.e., there was too few participants. There was other problems too hence why I am replicating.
Just to note though even if my findings do show - for example - that smokers have lower self esteem than non-smokers that is not to say that all smokers will have low self esteem.

That is the thing about psychological research, unless you are looking at very specific factors than you cannot always generalise.

Another thing abouth the nature of my study it will be difficult to determine causality. For example, if results show that people who smoke have lower self esteem thna non smokers it is difficult to determine whether smoking results in lowered self esteem or whether people with low self esteem results in such individuals taking up smoking. To find out that further research would be needed. For example maybe through interviews. Or by looking at other factors associated with lowered self esteem.
