I have heard that the tapes of the BBC's coverage of the moon landings have been destroyed. Is this true?

If anyone was around at the time of the moon landings, do you remember who the bbc had to cover the moon landings?

If this is being read in other countries, do the tapes still exist of your contries coverage of the moon landings? Which channels covered them and do you know who did the coverage?

Thanks.

I think I should clarify what I mean by this question.

I have heard that the studio discussions between whoever was presenting the coverage and the experts who where on.

You're probably referring to the fact that NASA doesn't really know where the original tapes are stored. No one believes that they're destroyed and there are tons of copies around. In the US, there are probably one or two shows on the Science channel or Nova that use the imagery every month.

The original download data for Apollo 11 TV transmissions are currently lost, although there is no evidence that they have been destroyed. The as-broadcast versions of the TV transmission still exist, but the data was somewhat degraded for TV broadcast.

I'm sure all the networks from then...ABC, NBC, CBS...have tape from them.
