If the roles were reversed, wouldn't a woman feel angry if the man spent excessively on himself on things he already has plenty? CD's, video games, gadgets? Being with someone who does anything in excess is tiresome.

I sure do! I earn about $100K CAN and she earns about $40K, yet our net worth is zero. We have a fancy house, but it needs some work: roof, floors, furnace. We have no savings or retirement programs, yet she's not concerned. As long as she looks good in new clothes, shoes, purses, make up hair, etc. She's addicted to shopping and to the praise she gets from people "about how great she looks". She looks great and we live in self-imposed poverty. We've been to marriage counselling, she said she didn't spend and only needs 50$ every 3 months, then spends about $500 a month on clothes. The counseller suggested she stop spending money, my wife said she doesn't want to go to counselling anymore because "it's not working for her". She refuses to give up her credit cards and abuses me when I refuse to pay them. We have consilodated credit cards 3 times, and after that she goes and gets more credit. Every time a pay goes into the account I have to race to pay bills before she gets to it. Last year I got a Christmas bonus and she burned through $5000 in 25 days. Christmas Eve I had to return groceries to the store so that we wouldn't bounce our mortgage payment. I took away her credit cards after an argument and she cried like as if I had cut off her hands or something. I had to give them back, because she was going out to Sears, Zellers and giving them her license number to have them charge it to her account because she "forgot her card". I checked with a lawyer, and I be better off financially and mentally by divorcing her and paying $1200 in support. At least there would be a limit to how much she could spend! I love my kids too much to leave them, but it's very close. Good luck and thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I knw how hard it is to make a living and the cost of living is high. All women realy want from a relationship is to be wanted for more than just s**. Sure they like it, but they need something they can hold on to! Material possesions not included.

only when she complains about going to work too

either spend less or earn what you want to spend

we all have to come to terms with that.

I try to make a life in which we would not have to pay rent and could wake up and spend $20 a day each and not even have to work.

She doesn't want to live "like that"

Does he want a wife to keep up in style? Or become an old, fugly housewife? Yes they get mad and he should be a halt to it. Spending should be done in moderation.

Yes most of them! but it depends on the man and how tight he is with the wallet
Most men don't understand a woman's need to shop and
forage,Most women don't understand how to not buy when
shopping.

We both work hard and once the bills are paid, neither one of us has a problem if we spend money on ourselves.

My husband actually encourages me to overspend...and loves buying me jewelery, clothes etc... He really seems to get joy in giving me things. I think it depends on the man.
