For your build, I would say buy a relaxed straight leg jean in a darker wash. The extra room in the seat and thigh would be more comfortable, and the straight leg would help to balance out your thighs. It's a very easy fit that flatters most any figure, while keeping a classic look that isn't trend specific. A true straight leg is the same width at the ankle as it is at the knee. Fold the leg of the jean (or pant) up to tell for sure.
A boot cut, which really isn't much more flared than a straight leg, could make your knee area look too small in comparison. A true flare, often confused with a boot cut, is very unflattering on most men because it adds curves to your figure. And a tapered cut, often confused with a straight leg, makes your hips and thighs look bigger.
You can't always go by the labels on the jeans. Many designers use inaccurate descriptions for their clothing because it's the popular styles. When you go shopping for your jeans, you have to hold them out to look at the real cut, not what words are used. The jeans should be straight from the waist to the ankle, with no difference in leg width, and a darker color on the thigh area to minimize your legs. It will also make your chest look even broader, and your waist more narrow.
(Hint: Most women love that V shape in a man.)

Bootcut Jeans Vs Straight

It all depends on the body type. Sometimes men wear the straight legs in the regular or slim fit and they are too tight and are too gethered at teh ankels. If you are going to wear a straight leg jean try them in a relaxed fit to give you some more room withought them looking tght. Or like a painterpaint stlye. They have a wide/relaxed leg throught the hip.

The bootcut style on men is tricky. You dont want to look feminine. Usually boot cut works good on a thinner more lean man. When you start moving into the larger sizes i.e. 40's and up the boot cut/flare tends to be larger as well to accomodate for the look and sometimes starts to look bell bottom like and jsut girly.

To be safe stick with a straight leg relaxed fit or a painters pant.

Personally, it doesn't matter much bootcut vs straight leg. What does matter is how they fit & look on the individual. For someone with thick thighs, look for a baggier fit jean for your waist size - the leg itself shouldn't taper inward as you look down towards the ankle, nor should it taper outwards! Easy way to tell is to bring the hem up to the mid to upper thigh - if the hem side is bigger, they'll tend to give you the flare look - if the hem side is smaller, but not more than an inch or two, they'll tend to give you the relaxed look I think you're after.

depends on the look you are going for. generally, bootleg is a more flattering cut if they fit you properly, however a "skinny" cut jean is a trendy look that some people prefer. however, as far as just bootleg vs. straight cut is concerned, bootleg is your best bet. straight fits are generally shapeless and make your legs look like a pair of rectangles. bootcuts fit your leg better but still sits well on top of the shoe. i know you asked for girls' opinions, but i thought this might help

Generally I would say definitely straight leg, but if you have an unusual body shape then you just have to go with what looks flattering on you.

It's odd that people are referring to boot-cut jeans as "girly." What's more quintessentially masculine than jeans and cowboy boots? Unless they're not a real boot cut but are just big flared legs.

It depends on your body type. I like both. With what you've said, I would probably say bootcut. However, I think the best way to find out is to try them both on and go with whatever you feel best in b/c if you feel sexy, you'll look it.

I say go with straight leg. I only prefer boot cut on some guys, because on some guys it helps to balance their look out. But I think the balanced look for you is straight leg.

Something in between. If the flare on the leg is too much, the jeans are feminine looking. Too straight and the jeans are early 90's.
