As long as nothing goes wrong there aren't. Some medicines you might be prescribed anyway, all of which you can refuse, would be pitocin to help the uterus contract, narcotic pain relievers or other pain relievers and a stool softener. But if you don't want any of those you don't have to take them.

No. I took tylenol after the birth of my first 2, but with my 3rd I was in no pain at all afterwards, so I didnt take anything.

for a normal birth, no. Although some complications may require medications after.

Most women are anemic after birth and their doctors advise them to stay on their prenatals for a while to booster their iron levels.

pain medication if you have had a difficult labor, tearing ect or a c- section if your labor and birth has gone relatively easy ... just tylonel for the cramping that will follow as your uterus gets back in shape.. if you intend to breast feed there will also be more cramping and pain....... you can play it cold turkey if you like but most doctors/nurses recommend taking the pain meds... so you can be more actively involved in caring for your baby and healing comfortably

In general, no.

On a case by case basis, it depends on the case. Some women may need pitocin, some will need a shot for RH - blood, some will need heavy painkillers, some may need blood thinners or thickeners, etc.

It really depends.

Not unless she is RH-. This would be the only reason she would have to have anything after birth and it is a shot.

Usually if the woman decides to breast feed, she should continue their prenatal vitamins, they also recomend iron to compensate for the blood that she has lost and motrin for any pain.
