take her to a pet store, how you get her there is up to you, show her some baby snakes, they are way less scary when they're small, if she sees they are not so bad, go find some1 that works in the store and ask if you can handle one of the babies, show her you know what you're doing and maybe she'll even agree to handling it. also it helps to do alot of research on the specific snake you want, try to get something small and good for first timers, try a rosy boa, i've never owned one but i've heard they stay smallish, also go to a store and pick out a good terrarium that fills the requirments of the type of snake you choose, a good terrarium would have a screen top and a latch so the enclosure can be secured correctly so the snake won't be able to escape. show you're mother that you really want this and you're willing to do all the work. If you have a job it really really helps if you pay for everything! ok ummmmm thats all i can think of, lol my parents both like snakes so I never had to go through begging so I can't garentee that these methods will work but they sound pretty logical to me =) Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope it all works out to your benefit!!

Snakes are very misunderstood animals, I like snakes too. You should get some information on them and hang it on the fridge and leave it there for a few days and mention the snake idea again around your mom and see how she reacts. If she is willing you should take her to a pet store and see if you can hold a snake.

Only way I could ever be swayed is by being told that there was 100% no way it would ever, ever be out of the container in the house. I mean, even when the tank was being cleaned, it would have to be done outside, because I wouldn't want any chance of it ever getting lose in the house. That would be my biggest issue with it. You need to FIRST, hear her, listen to what her issues are. Then, if you can, address them and give her very real guarantees about them. If you can't, then don't even bother, because you won't sway her.

try to get your dad to sit down with her and you. at 16 you are old enough to take on the responsibility of a pet. tell her snakes are quiet, they won't poop or pee all over the house, they won't bark, howl, mew or whine, they basically stay in a secured cage/aquarium area and only come out when you take them out. maybe if you even go as far as to promise her that you won't bring the snake around her, then she might ok it.

show her some interesting facts. Snakes are really cool critters. Tell her you won't take it out of the tank... then only take in out when she's not home, and heaven forbid don't let it get loose! Used to own rats. My mom had the same prob

Respect your mom's wishes, it's her house. Once you live out on your own and pay your own bills you can get whatever pets you like, but until then your mom does a lot for you. Patience is a virtue, true responsibility is seeing that your mom's word goes.

Good luck but if my kid wanted one I would have to go with your mom. Still turn on the puppy dog eyes and pout. Also, say PPPLLEEAAASSSSEEE......maybe that will work.

Put one in they're bed while they're asleep and let them "sleep on it". Then get one anyways and tell them that they're being Communist pigs and then make "RED" references for the rest of the day.
