I have a lot of respect for the man. First off, he revolutionized linguistics, and second, he is one of few people courageous enough to stand up to our supposedly democratic governments and call them to task for their misdeeds.
People who call him a kook or a person who hates his own country probably haven't read his work. His arguments are never inflamatory spewing, but always well supported and his analysis is thoughtful and well-reasoned. A far better social critic than Michael Moore.

His genius is in making people think, pure and simple. I've skimmed a few articles and some pages of his work, but am unimpressed. Dissent, while a integral part of the United States Citizenry, has been usurped and perverted as of late.
Democraps and Repukelicans are in cahoots, in that they take turns in bilking and raping the people of the United States. This Americanized-democracy is exactly what our founders warned of...elite wealthy pseudo-representatives taking advantage of the population. C'mon, folks, regardless of conservative or liberal affiliation, HOW CAN PUTTING ELITE WEALTHY IVY LEAGUERS AS OUR REPRESENTATIVES, WHEN THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ARE NEITHER WEALTHY NOR ELITE? Is it just me?

Yes, I have heard of him and read him. I deeply respect his opinions. I am currently reading Imperial Ambitions which I picked up in Scotland last month. I highly recommend it in light of the current situation in Iraq and Iran.
By the way, just because someone doesn't agree with the current administration that doesn't mean he hates his country. Dissent is an integral part of the American way of life.

He's a disliker. He hates America and Americans. He hates law and order. he hates religion and observance. He's just another over-paid, over-pampered academic leftie who should have been lobotomized ages ago. The only reason his name even came up is because Danny Glover's butthole buddy Hugo Chavez quoted him.
