I just got over my period a little over a week ago, and it was normal. However, yesterday when I wiped, I noticed a little bit of brown discharge. I didn't think much of it, but today everytime I've went to the bathroom, it's still there. It isn't getting onto my underwear, and it doesn't hurt when I urinate. Everything looks normal, but when I wipe now, there's dark brown showing up and what appears to be maybe a little blood. I'm worried, any ideas what this could be?

For the first two years that I started menstruating, my periods didn't even look like blood, but that nasty dark brown stuff, and it freaked me out! As it turns out, the uterus doesn't just get rid of blood, but uterine tissue as well, which accounts for the clotting.

It seems odd that this is happening after your period has finished, as though you're having a second period. This does occasionally happen to people. I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it doesn't disappear after a couple weeks. In that case I would go to the doctor to see what's up.

More than likely its just old blood thats drying up from having your period. However, if you still notice this in a couple of days - - make an appt with your gyno because you might have a bacterial infection.

This happens to me also. If this persists for more than two weeks, I would see a doctor. But since your period just ended, I wouldnt be very concerned about it.
