I would drive the 2 hours.
My OB is an hour away. I saw him throughout 3 pregnancies and delivered at the hospital I thought best, also an hour away. Two of my labors were induced, but I made it in plenty of time for my spontaneous labor.
It is my opinion that barring any complications with your pregnancy, you should do what you feel comfortable with, even if it means a bit more driving. You are wise to try and avoid a caregiver like you describe if that is not the type of birth situation you want.
Best of luck!

Most doctors won't see you until you are 12 weeks along.
They like to wait out the first couple of weeks to make sure that the pregnancy has sustained itself and also to make sure that the chances of you hearing the heartbeat through a doppler are high. Before 12 weeks, the baby is usually hidden behind your pelvic bone, so a doppler usually won't pick up the heart beat.
I'd find another doctor, regardless of the drive. My doctor was an hour and a half away even though my family has a history of fast labors - a better doctor is more than worth the drive!

I would say go to the doctor that you feel most at ease with. Trust your instincts. My OB was an hour away for my second two children. I voiced my concerns about the distance and the possibility of a short labor, etc. and my doctor addressed them headon. Any good doctor should do the same. Two hours does seem a little far, but talk it over with your doctor. Make a list of all of your concerns don't just try to remember them all off of the top of your head.

Go to the doctor you want. If you are more comfortable with the one two hours away make the drive. I was an hour away from my OB during my second pregnancy. Just be happy with the choice. Remember you are allowing this person (ob/gyn) to share in the most special day of your and your babies life--so make it someone worthwhile to have that privilege!

I would definately make the drive it is most likely that you will make it unless you are one of those super women who can pop out a baby in 2 hours and if so how lucky for you,ha ha! But on a serious note, you have an instinct within you and if you just trust that it will not steer you wrong. But in my personal opinion I would not ignore those negative comments you have heard about the doctor, you and your baby deserve the best possible care at all costs.Congrats on your pregnancy and I know you will make the best decision possible.

I would do whatever made me feel more comfortable. It it's driving 2 hours, then do it. I had a baby about 5 1/2 months ago and my OB was about 1 hour and 15 min. away, but she was great and it was worth it. You really need to feel comfortable with whichever one you choose. I hope all goes well.

I had to cross state lines to get a decent doctor and hospital for delivery. its been worth it completely, I havent given birth yet, but ive heard nothing but excellent things about it.
I certainly would never see a doctor who's knife happy.
You can plan for the doctor 2 hours away, and you'll probably be just fine, but expect the chance that you might have to settle for a last minute on call doctor, and your unpleasant hospital, incase things happen too quickly.

So you ahve a good doctor, and you know everything will go great with the labor, you should take the drive. Its always better to be safe. If you go into labor very quickly, you can alsways go to a good hospital and they will deliver for you. Good luck and congrats.
