....satirizing the gay lifestyle from within the gay community? Where would one find examples of such humor if they exist? And have you ever seen any acceptable humor relating to gays that originated in the straight segment of the society?

I am making a distinction here between humor of gays (which is what my main question refers to) and "humor" against gays. Just as I would make a distinction between Holocaust "humor" and humor in the Holocaust. The latter actually did exist and is validly an acceptable and humanistic form of humor.

I love good gay humor, and in my opinion, it's anything that has fun with gayness, but doesn't make it seem wrong- i.e. if you're mocking it, it's not because it's gay, but because there's something silly about it, just like there is with every other topic of humor, be it mothers-in-law or airplane food.

I haven't found much of it, but I'm looking forward to seeing "Another Gay Movie", which looks to be utterly hilarious and is a spoof on the American Pie tradition, only gay.

I think humor no matter what it deals with is a matter of the person. We all have different types of humor and what would be offensive to one is not to another. Here is an example of gay humor that I find funny...........
"I don't mind if you are straight, as long as you act gay in public."
I LOVE THAT ONE!!!!!

Self-deprecating humor has always been a favorite of mine, so long as there is no real self-hatred involved.

Most gay humor is really quite funny.

i think of humor has a place in R&S. i think God has a humorousness. most of the flaws in the Bible i discover humorous.occasion: some random guy in Mark working away bare from the backyard of Gethsemane. in the story of job....he looses each little thing.... different than the nagging spouse. LOL Jesus elevating Lazarus from the lifeless and it being pronounced "via now he stinketh". LOL i discover little giggles for all time whilst reading the Bible.

I think that gays can joke with other gays, as newfoundlanders can joke with other newfoundlanders. --- one man's funny is another's racial slur
