I have been thinking about tying my tubes, i really dont think i want more children, but I heard the best time is right after you deliver a child. Well iam having a child in March and is it a good idea to do it all at once???? Is it painful?

Go ahead and do it while you are in the hospital. It won't extend your recovery time much, if any. It is not painful. They put you to sleep before they do the procedure. You may have a bit of soreness around the incision, but nothing any worse than the pain you have after having a child anyway.

However, if you are not SURE that you don't want more children, maybe you should wait. I had my tubes tied almost 6 years ago, and now (sometimes!) I wish I hadn't. This is a very personal decision though.

I had my tubes tied after my last delivery. However, I had a c-section so they did it all at once. It was pretty painful, but I can't say that it was entirely because of the tubal. If you are having a natural delivery, I think they take you in a day or two later to do the procedure and they do it vaginally instead of by incision. My recommendation is that if you are having a c-section do it at the same time. Otherwise, I don't think it really matters. But as the earlier answer said.... make sure you are positive that this is what you want to do before hand. It is possible to have it reversed later, but I don't think there are any guarantees and it is definitely not a cheap thing to do either.

Your Doctor will tell you when is the best time, but you have to be sure you are done. When you go to have the baby, they usually tie them the next morning. I had mine done after my second child, she was C section, so they did it immediately.

Not so much painful as sore.

it's better to do it when you're already in the hospital, but make sure you are POSITIVE before you do it
