Good for you.
i applaud you. *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
i am glad that some people still feel the true spirit of Christmas, instead of the crazed buying spree type views that the stores want you to use.
one more *clap, clap, clap*

And how would you feel if you found out that Jesus was probably born sometime in October, and that the holiday that everyone thinks of as so special is actually a corresponding date for a pagan holiday called Saturnalia? Neither the commercialism that is so rampant nor the belief that they are celebrating Jesus' birthday is pleasing to God! Jew's in Jesus' day didn't celebrate their birthday... they focused instead on the death of a person, and their accomplishments in their lifetime. I would think that if Jesus did not celebrate his OWN birthday, and didn't ask US to, that it is disrespectful to do so, so those who say that they do Christmas for Christ might perhaps want to rethink who it is they are trying to please!
In any event, the commercialism that has taken over is so pervuasive that it has taken on many faces... Mothers Day, Easter, Halloween, Secretaries Day, etc... and each time we buy an Easter dress, or Halloween candy or a Mother's Day card we give our silent approval for what big business is doing!

Christmas is not Christian!!!! The proper date should be either the 6th oif January - when many true Christians do actually celebrate or in March depending on whos calender you are following.
The Christian Church deliberately moved their date to cover the proper Christmas celebrated by non christians of ancient rites and traditions.
Yet another sad case of Christian intolerance of other peoples views, beliefs and freedoms!!!!

It is because it is the season for giving. I was taut that is is always better to give than to receive. We can't give to God or Christ except for ourselves, so we give to others. If it is a matter of money, then don't give as much. I don't make much money, but I always make sure I give something to the kids in my family. Nieces and nephews, etc.

agree totally as there are so many who go overboard with the hype and propaganda to " spend - spend - spend " and have people try to outdo each other in gift giving that the merchants seem to take advantage of this and line their bank accounts.
