Permantely no. But they can experience hearing loss related to it. It would be temporary and resolve with cleaning.
I had a horrible ear infection this summer, I went to urgent care because I was out of town. They gave me antibiotics but I continued to have hearing loss. I went in to my doctor and there was icky stuff left in the ear canal, he used a water pik and peroxide to clean it out following it up with special drops to dry out the water fluid left by the water pik. Normal hearing returned instantly.
Most ear wax does push it's way out on it's own. Some people have more wax than others. You also have to be careful using a Qtip because you could actually pack the wax in rather than get it out.

cleansing your Pug's ears shouldn't make him deaf. i don't think of your vet is mendacity, he somewhat has no reason too on the grounds that your Pug is 14 yo i think of he's in all probability dropping his listening to or already lost maximum of it. It substitute into in all probability a twist of fate that this befell on the comparable time his ear's have been wiped sparkling. in case you nonetheless don't think this would ensue this type i could get a 2d opinion.
