People that are the best at something become that way because they are truly interested in it . . . you are not. . .
When you say you want to be the best at the beginning it means you are into it for EGO reasons, you are looking for attention & recognition. You want others to see you as best as if it is a competition.
The good people are NOT interested in competition, they are interested in the thing itself, even if no one else is involved.
Get over your ego issues and find something you are interested in even if there is no one else for you to be better than.

I think you might be over-competing just a bit.
It's not who wins, it's how ya play the game! Some of it is about having fun. Watch the winners and sincerely congratulate them, they may give you alot of info on how they got where they are at! Some people love to do that.
Along the way you will build many strengths, it sounds like right now is the time you have many opportunities. I'd say don't waste them.
Sooner or later you will find the thing that you are good at, and will win at. Cause' sooner or later the one that will win is the one that things he can! ( A little trite, but true )
Also, the Native Americans gave a prize to each person, not just to the winner at all. Without each person, there wouldn't even be a contest.

I was the same way when I was younger, especially in some things. I found that you only need to alter your attitude. Examine what it is exactly that interested you and focus on that. Was it learning something new? Getting to know new people? Getting to practice physical work? Working for a cause? Etc? Not all activities is a competition and requires someone to be the "best". You have to learn to enjoy just living in the moment and doing whatever activity for the sake of doing it, not because of any desire to be regarded as the best or whatever.

At least you are the best at being you.
Try to find positive satisfaction in things. Try not to think about whether you're the best or not.

You cannot start at the best. You have to fail or not do well before you start to improve.
I think this is an immaturity that you will likely grow out of.

CZ you are perfectionist...don't be like that. it will harm you...just try something without thinking how good you will be...and if it turns ok then you will have the satisfaction.
