people are so quick to jump at this in attack mode. calling it fiction, saying there wasn't much research, has to be a lie....well there is another book that was written with out much research either and they believe every word of it. and it is a bit outlandish...they call it the bible

The entire thing was based on the book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" which was a best seller in the '80s. The Priory of Scion was later proved to be a hoax, a good one I do not dispute, it fooled a lot of people including me, but a hoax none the less. Pope John Paul 2 stated flat out that Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute and that it had been wrong ever to so describe her. It is true that an early Christian sect did believe her to have been Jesus' wife, and considered her to have been the 13th disciple. The Paul/Peter group started the idea of her being a whore because they wanted exclusive rights to the Jesus franchise, and the Magdalene's wouldn't recognize a clergy that didn't admit women. Once Constantine gave the Paulians access to the Roman army, the Magdalene's were exterminated. Personally I don't think "the Da Vinci Code" wasn't even a very good novel.

Just watched a TV program on this...Opus Dei, Priory of Scion, Knights Templar are all real. They aren't necessarily what Dan Brown described in his book, but they did or do exist. As to Mary Magdalen being Christ's bride...does seem possible to me. And as for the Church covering things up...oh yes! Great book...definitely made you think.

You are asking for my personal opinion, here goes!
i think some, not all, some are true.
i believe that Christianity (as a religion) has been altered long ago to fit the standards set by th Romans and Jews, and i also believe that Opus Dei, the Priory of Sion, the Knights of Templar and Leonardo DaVinci (his mysteriousness) are true, but the details described by Dan Brown may not be accurate as this happened long ago and we cannot tell what is right from wrong as it was banned from society those days to express or have freedom of speech at all.

Like any good author worth his salt, Dan Brown wrote "The DaVinci Code" purely for entertainment. Infusing the story with characters types, places, and organizations that really exist gives the story credence.
The Knights Templar really did exist. That can be researched and verified.
Historical sites in Europe have been used as well.
But no, Mary Magdalene was not the bride of Christ.

Fiction, the only actual information are those with regard to the region and outlines of the artwork and the rituals reported i think of it is fulfillment is in part because of the fact he makes it sound so actual because of the fact he's mixing fact and fiction , and he's familiar with precisely the thank you to do it so which you get lots historic suggestion yet does not experience like a history lesson on account which you have the story and the characters at the back of it which save you addicted to the radical that's a large e book

This book cleverly describe and mixes real history with fiction. There was the Knights Templar and believe or not there was a Priory of Scion, of course they didn't do what the book described of doing.

A lot of folks are speaking up about how the book is fictional, even Mr. Brown himself, but the inspiration for the book was a Non-Fiction book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" which states many of the same things as Da Vinci Code. Infact the authors took Mr. Brown to court over it.

And it is definately true that a lot of Pagan beliefs have been intergrated into Christianity.

Honestly I don't know. The pieces all seem to fit together and it makes a lot of sense so it definitely gets me thinking. Also with how much of a stink the catholic church raised when the movie came out kind of makes me think maybe it is true because if it was all fiction why are they making such a big deal about it. But in the end I am on the fence, makes a lot of sense but not sure if I truly believe it.

It's not really a matter of believing it or not.....it is a FICTION book. There are several things in the book based in fact, such as the Knights Templar.....they really did exist; however, the author used fact, speculation, legend, and pure imagination to produce a great work of FICTION.
