Manchester United is the English team that has the biggest fan base in the world. This is due in no small part to the globalisation of their brand about a decade ago. Other clubs are catching up.

As for the most fans IN England that's harder to say. Not everyone can go watch the team they love. Some people here say that if you don't go to watch your team at the stadium you're not a fan. I disagree. It's merely a matter of words.
- Those who go to watch their team play are supporters.
- Those who don't always go to matches or rarely are merely fans!

If everyone who was a fan of a particular club went to watch them there would be hundreds of thousands. Far more than can get into a stadium. Supporters spend their money supporting the club. Fans just chant and root for their team...

I think it depends what you define a fan to be. For example you have those "fans" who will quite happily wear a Man Utd or Chelsea shirt however they have no idea what Old Trafford or Stanford Bridge are.

I would guess that it would have to be a toss up between Man United and Chelsea (Leaning more towards United)

manchester united have the biggest following in the world. fan clubs and retail shops worldwide. this cannot be matched by any other club. you can disregard all the answers like liverpool arsenal etc if you added all the rest of the fans together united would still have more.

The true fans are those who are not Glory Hunters and support their teams through thick and thin. I'm a Newcastle Utd supporter and we've got a massive fan base which See's 57,000 turn out each week - win draw or loose !.

manchester utd i cant stand them but facts are facts they have the biggest gates over 75000 every week AND where ever you go everyone seems to know or follow them . They even had massive support when they were crap and were winning nothing. i support their rivals liverpool and not only hate the fact they are better supported ,but cant understand it.
