I'm in search of an electric guitar, and was wanting to know everyone's opinions on brands. He wants a Fender, but we also spotted an awsome Samick pack. I'd love to have the amp included. I've also heard Yahama are ok also. I don't want a vintage, because of price and well, they're old. lol More than one pickup and/or humbucker too. He is a beginer, but wants one that will always be better than he is. lol

Any ideas of what to look for, and what to look out for? Any links to sites with amazing deals on a new one? (I've been all over ebay so don't point it out!)

Thanks for your help, and I hope to have him shreddin by x-mas!!!
;o)

I DID mention this is for my HUSBAND, not a child..... He's been playing for only a couple months on an acoustic, but now wants an electric.

Fender guitar with a Peavey amp is a good choice. try websites www.zzounds.com, www.musiciansfriend.com , www.samash.com, or www.americanmusicalsupply.com. I have dealt with each and they are very reputable for online purchases.

We have a red and white Squier Strat Fender with a fender amp. It works great. Just have to keep it in tune and remember to unplug things when you're done. If you're not a fan of all of the noise, buy a pair of those special headphones that plug into the amp. That's what we do.

I'd get one of those value packs. Comes with a guitar, amp, video, chord chart(SOME), and pretty much everything else you need. Strat copies are really good starter electrics. As for amps Line 6 makes the best. The Spider line is really great.

shredding? I thought he wanted a guitar, not a shredder!!! Seriously though check out www.Musicians Friend.com, also there are lots of good deals at eBAy depending on how much you want to spend. Ibanez also sells what they call the "jam Pack'' which includes a fine Ibanez guitar and amplifier for around 250.00 to 300.00 U.S.D.

Look into the Epiphone Player's Pack. Complete package to get started. Good quality guitar. Music123.com is a good place to start.
