Mauna Kea in Hawaii is the world's tallest mountain from base to peak! Its base is on the sea floor and it rises 33,480 feet (10,314 meters) in total, while Mt. Everest which is located on the border between Nepal and China, not in India like the person "Student" said. Mt. Everest from base to peak is 29,028 feet (8,848 meters). Mt. Mauna Kea beats Everest by 4,452 feet (1,466 meters). It's true that Mt. Everest reaches the highest, but it's not the tallest.

The highest moungtain on land is Mount Everest, its summit is over 29,000 feet above sea level. There might be some islands in the ocean that are technically mountains is you measure from the sea floor that are taller than Everest, but I'm not sure.

The round structure of the Earth - "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
