I would take it to the police that's the right thing to do. You what if it were the other way around and some one found your purse or wallet and you didn't have your I.D in it for some reason you would hope that someone would turn it in right. Plus it's the Holidays that person might really need that money and they might have a family as well. Think about it .

If there was absolutely no ID or any cards or antyhing..only money--I suppose it would depend on how much was in the wallet.
if it were less then $20.00 I would keep it unless there was an easy way to leave my name and number for people to contact if they lost a wallet. I know this will probably sound unpopular and mean but anything less then that and it's not worth my time to do extra effort to find the owner.
Any more then that and i would find a way to start to look for the owner--i.e., if I foudn it outside a place of business I would leave my name and number with that place and tell them that if somebody looks for a wallet they can call me..if they can descirbe it..it's theres.
if we're talking hundreds of dollars I'd take it to the police. I try my best to treat people and situations the way I'd want them treated if it were me and certainly if I lost $20.00 I would chalk that up to bad luck..if I lost $100.00 or more I would hope and PRAY that some honest sole turned it in so I would act the same way!

I would run an ad in the local paper with a reply to a POB only---I would say something like "purse found. Owner must describe exactly and in writing within 30 days".
I would also ASK the local police departments if anyone had reported a lost purse, but no, I would not turn it in to them. Sometimes things get lost that way, that's all.
After 30 days, if I had not been able to find the owner, it would be mine.

Take it to the police. Wouldn't you rather your purse/wallet be taken to the police, instead of someone spending the money?

This will always be dilemma for some people,if they are short of cash at the time of their find.Good Samaritans
will always return every thing they find .If you do find a wallet and hand it to the police always insists on a receipt for the said article .Myself personally I have to admit it would depend on my financial situation at the time.

That's a tough question because if you keep it and spend it, what if it's marked? Keep in mind, it could be money from a bank robbery or something and an all points bulletin, could be put out on the money and if it's found out that you have been spending some of it, how would you explain it? On the other hand, a part of me would keep it and spend it, I just don't know for sure, what I would do.

There's half a million people in my city, if anyone loses a wallet and there's no ID or name/address card then I'd keep the cash. It sounds horrible but if i give it to the police they just keep it, so it might aswell go to a good cause! (moi :D)

I'd turn it in to the police, if nobody claimed it it would be mine anyway. However, imagine if you lost your wallet/purse and someone turned it in...wouldn't you be grateful. It's a little disheartening to see how many dishonest people there are answering this question!

Pffft!! I'd spend the cash!! I mean, lets be honest here. If theres an ID, I'll send the purse/wallet back in the mail. The cash is the finders fee.
