If he's finished his HW and chores then I would give him an hour or 2 depending on the time it was. I don't get it, when I was a kid you couldn't keep me in the house.

I think all things are good in moderation. Is he getting his homework, chores, etc done? Tell him that he must get chores and homework done first. If those are done he can have anywhere from 2-3 hours on the net and again must join the family for dinner, etc. The other thing you could try to do is involve him in extracurricular activities. I would also check the history and cookies on the computer to see exactly what and where he has been on the internet. There are a lot of things I wouldn't want my 15 yr old in. I would do this without him knowing. Then depending on what you find, discuss it with him.

How are his grades? Does he get his homework done? What about chores? Does he help out around the house? Is he responsible and trust worthy?

Depending on your answers, he can spend absolutely no time on line or he might be allowed to spend 2 hours on line from 4 pm until 10 pm.

After homework is completed 1-2 hours.

Join the family for dinner, read for pleasure.

Computer should not be in his room.

If he gets irritated tell him to take a lap and run around the block.

Link the computer to other privileges like driving lessons or skiing or something that he will value.

If he gives you grief, disconnect the Internet while you are not using it.

I'd say about 2 hours. You could make him work for it by only being allowed to go online if he has done X first.
Do you know what it is he is doing online? If you know what it is that is interesting him so much then maybe you can do more about it.
Maybe it's just a phase - when I first ever got online I was always on for hours at a time!

My son is allowed 2 hours max and this is apart with an hour break in between. This is only after chores homeowrk and othe rthings are done. I us eto let him have 3 hours he became addicted to MMORPG's and they made him angry so I had to cut back time on him hope that helps. There are lots of great answeres here.

Hmm....As much as he'd like, as long as he gets 9 1/2 hours of sleep. The average teen needs 9 1/2 hours of sleep.

wow... THAT IS WAY TOO LONG! I would take the power cord off and hide it. Its the black cord in the back of the computer, it plugs into the wall and can EASILY be disconnected and Re connected at will. Demand that he stays off, or give him a time limit. AND BE STRICT!

How much time does he spend on Homework? Base it on that, maybe an equal time for each or other reasonable amount. Good Luck!
