Can one division send three teams to the playoffs because they would have one from the division winner and if the next two have the best wild card records do they both go or can only one go to the wild card from a division. Need official proof.

Yes. Thats right. They can... All depend on their record.. This could happen this year...as Kansas City. SD and Denver look sharp and may get enought points to do that..

But one thing to note that rarely happen as Division usually play most games against each other and their point level stay down...

In the NFL, each of the 8 division winners makes the playoffs, with the seeding based on record, and then the next two teams with the best records in each conference make the playoffs as the 5 & 6 seeds, based on record.

So in each conference you have the top 4 seeds composed of the division winners seeded 1-4 based on record, and then the 5&6 seeds seeded on record. So a 5 or a 6 seed could have a better record than a 2,3, or 4 seed, but not the number 1 seed because they would have been from the same division.

And yes 3 teams can come from the same division.

Yeppers, since it is all record based...I think that the AFC West has that chance
