There were 4 the first one was Jacob Marley who told him that 3 ghosts were coming to visit him. Then the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future came to visit him.

Greenwood is incorrect in one important respect: the story starts on Christmas Eve and ends on Christmas morning. Because of Marley's warning, Scrooge expects the visitations to occur separately, and is amazed to find that he hasn't missed Christmas, acknowledging that 'spirits can do anything.'

there are actually a lot more than 4. first off there are the two children ghosts "Ignorance" and "Want" who travel with the ghost of Christmas present, and then there are all the miser ghosts Marley shows scrooge outside his window who desperately want to help people but are forced to just watch. One of them carrying a safe with their chains. In the original version of the story I don t think there is a countable answer, but in most movie versions it s just 4

there were four Ghost which visited scrooge which include :Jacob Marley Scrooge`s friend,the Ghost of the Christmas past,the Ghost of the Christmas present and the last one which is the Ghost of the Christmas future
