actually there are about 50 million in each load, and yes they seek it out

Yes, you're right because there is no search. Spems follow the vaginal duct until the uterus only. The first arriving on the egg try to penetrate and as well as it happens the egg membrane won't leave other sperm going in (aside from the Heterozygous cases).

There is a chemical attraction, but once one sperm has made it inside the cell wall of the egg, it puts out a chemical that keeps all other sperm out.
