Take ice cubes and put them in the disposal, a handfull or so, turn it on and this will clean and sharpen the paddles inside. Lemon wedges are a good way to help it smell fresh.

Depends upon what you mean by "clean" it.
If it's clogged, you could use Draino or some such product. And then, if that doesn't do the job a plumber or even new disposal is in order.
If it's just smelly, you could use any number of products on the market. Some are SPECIFICALLY made for the purpose; look in the cleaning isle at your grocery store near the dish soaps for these. I, personally, have always simply poured some Pinesol down it just before going to bed at night and that does the job!!!

have a vodka and tonic. when finished, dump the lime wedge into the disposer and turn it on.and let it grind the lime wedge up.
it helps the disposer work better and if you do it a couple of times in a sort period of time, you'll have a nice little buzz to go with your nicer smelling disposer! Cheers!

Drain cleaner is made to break down the organics in drains, use a granular type and let it dissolve slowly. Please be careful.
