Yes, you can have the cats while you're pregnant!!!!!!! Please don't get rid of your pets just because of this.
There is a danger with cat litter and pregnancy, so you need to make sure two things happen:
1. The litter box is in an area that you don't spend a lot of time in (like a family room or something). it is better to be away from main areas of the home...basement maybe even.
2. That you have someone else scoop/change the litter while you're pregnant OR you go and get gloves and those dust masks that like dentists and such use that covers your mouth and nose and clean it yourself that way.
Good luck, and keep those cats around!!! Once your baby is born, cats in the hosuehold can help with asthma in kids.

Injections? As far as I knew there wasn't an injection to take care of that problem. It's not the cats, it's the little box. The litter and chemicals can cause SERIOUS health problems during pregnancy. You can keep the cats if you put the litter box some room you do not spend nearly anytime in and have someone else care for the little box EVERY time. I chose not to take any risks and gave my kitten to a friend. I love her, but the cat was NOT worth my baby's health.

Just have someone else clean the cat litter. Some doctors say that since you have already been around the cats you are immune, but why take chances?
If you get an automatic litter scooper, like Littermaid, it scoops for you and just toss on some rubber gloves and empty the container. But it's a great excuse to get out of scooping litter!!
Children that grow up exposed to pets in the house are less likely to have allergies later.

You are fine. I have had 3 babies and am pregnant again and have always had cats. Several of them. Just let someone else change the litter box because of toxoplasmosis. You can look that up online to read about it. Usually though if you have had cats all your life or for a while anyways, then you are usually immune to this toxoplasmosis.., which you will see when you read about it. Its not dangerous to have any cats while pregnant. Dont worry about that.

The risk associated with having cats during pregnancy is from Toxoplasmosis. It's a bacteria often present in cat feces. It can become airborne if the litter box is not scooped right away. If you are concerned about it, speak to your OB/GYN first, but most likely you will just be told to make someone else scoop the box. It's also possible to have the cats tested to see if they carry it, as well as for you to be tested for the antibodies.

If you need to clean the litterbox yourself, buy a box of disposable gloves! It's not that bad, really! Be careful when you clean the litter, except for that enjoy your cats, there is nothing to be afraid of. My cat loved cuddling up on my bump when I was pregnant, he wouln't get off! But he ran a mile first time he heard the baby cry! Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.

You do not need any injections. You don't need to get rid of your cats either. Either have someone else clean the litter box or if you have to do it make sure that you wear Playtex gloves. The contact with the cat feces is what is dangerous. It is NOT the kitty litter itself that is the danger! It is only the feces.

It is not bad to keep the cats beacuse the cats themselves will not hurt you! The feces in the litter box will beacuse it has a bacteria in it then can hurt you! so make your spouce or bf get rid of the cat litter! Also buy some air freshner with bacteria destoryer to help also!

You dont get injections for handling animals that live in your home.
Its their feces you want to avoid. Dont touch the litter box while pregnant. ANd keep your hands washed after touching the cats, since they end up with poo on their feet from using the box.
