I think it is a boys name that could possibly be used as a girls name. It is gaining a little popularity as a girls name. But I would assume it would be the same as if you named him Jaime, Pat, Kim, Chris, Ryan, Sam, etc... If this is what you want to name your son, then I would name him Jaylen. I would assume if you told people you wanted to name your son Robert or Alex or anything else, they would have a problem with it too. Names are subjective. I would just pick a name and limit the number of people you tell to a few or none until after he is born. They will have a greater problem picking on the name once it's official.
Congratulations!

i think the name Jaylen is sooo cute. i love it. yes its a boys name. he will not get teased i know a guy with that name and he has never been teased for it. it can be spelled a lot of different ways too.
Jaelin
Jaelin
Jaylin
stay away from jay-LYNN because its may LOOK feminine. even though it isnt.
i also like the name Jayden. i think its cute too. and if you are still worried about the name Jaylen you could always go with Jayden. its really cool boys name. but i think Jaylen is pefectly fine for a boy. i wouldnt name a girl jaylen or imagine it as a girls name. go with what you like the best.,if your friends dont like it then too bad, its not their baby its yours so chose what like. and good luck!

I personally know a boy named Jaylen, but I'd try to go with Jayden - it sounds more masculine. I think that if that's the name you want though, go with it. I don't think he'll be teased. It's an uncommon name, and no one will really think "oh no - he has a girls name" because they probably won't know which gender it's for, no offense. I like the name though. Good luck and congradulations on your little boy!

There's a famous basketball player named Jalen Rose. Jaylen is one of those names that can be used for either a boy or girl.

It's definitely unisex. I have a male cousin named Jaylen and I think it's a very nice name.
Me and my husband are having the same discussion about the name "Jayden"-- he thinks it sounds too feminine. I love both Jaylen & Jayden. In fact, I love "J" names.
